Hard
water contains dissolved calcium and other minerals, which are
beneficial to healthy bodies, but can cause problems in the home. When
heated, hard water precipitates calcium into your hot water cylinder,
boiler and pipework. At best this will make heating your water more
expensive, at worst it will cause boiler or hot water cylinder failure.
Protecting your system with a Fernox Electronic Water Conditioner will
prevent this kind of failure and will maintain your hot water system at
peak efficiency. |
Physical
water treatment has been around for many years - mainly in the form of
magnetic devices. These devices can produce unpredictable results - many
simply do not work. The Fernox Electronic Water Conditioner does not
rely on magnetism or even radio waves, which are prone to interference.
Instead, using the latest microprocessor technology, it produces a
complex modulating frequency waveform.
The modulating frequency causes the calcium nuclei
to form in clusters in preference to adhering itself to any other
surface. Consequently the calcium will remain in suspension and will not
accumulate inside your hot water cylinder or boiler. The effect of the
calcium forming in clusters is so strong that hard scale already inside
your hot water system will eventually be dissolved and flushed out of
the system. You will not hear the device working, and the water will not
look any different. In fact there will be no chemical change in the
water at all. |

What
will the Fernox Water Conditioner do? It will:
| Prevent any further build up of hard scale. |
| Remove any scale already in your hot water system. |
| Soften scale usually found around taps and in sinks and toilets. |
| Help to reduce scum and to improve lathering of soap. |
It Will Not:
| Give you softened water. This can only be achieved using a
chemical water softener at great expense. |
| Protect your central heating system. Electronic devices are not
capable of preventing scale and corrosion damage in your heating
system. A Fernox Protector such as the Superconcentrate Central
Heating Protector should be used to give complete protection. |
How
can I tell if my Fernox Electronic Water Conditioner is working?
Every installation is different, but you should see some signs of the
device working within three months of installing it. You may notice that
the device seems to become less effective after several weeks. This is
because it is descaling your system and the water will be saturated with
dissolved scale that is being removed from your system. Once your system
has been descaled by the device, peak efficiency will be restored.
You should notice the following:
| Any scale that has formed around the taps, sinks etc. will begin
to soften with regular contact with the treated water. This soft
scale will be easier to remove that the normal hard scale. |
| Surfaces that are frequently in contact with water will become
easier to clean. Shower heads will be descaled. When you first fit
the device, you may find that the shower head becomes blocked with
loose scale debris. If this happens (particularly with electric
showers) simply remove the shower head and rinse out the debris. |
| After several months of descaling you will find that your hot
water system will gradually become more efficient. The water will
heat up quicker and to a higher temperature, and you may even find
that you get more hot water at a higher pressure, depending on how
severely scaled the system is. Eventually you should be able
to adjust the water temperature down and make considerable
energy savings over the year. |
| You should notice that soap and detergents will produce more
lather, allowing you to use less of them. |
| Trials have shown that some people who suffer from dry skin or
mild skin conditions may see an improvement in their condition. |
IMPORTANT NOTES
Do not expect your kettle to stay totally
scale-free. The Fernox Electronic Water Conditioner relies on
water flow to prevent scale formation. Since there is no water flow in a
kettle, soft scale will still form. The only way of preventing scale
formation is a kettle is by using certain types of water filters or a
water softener. There are steps that you can take to reduce scale
formation in your kettle. After boiling the kettle, always remove any
unwanted water and refill with fresh water. Leaving the kettle standing
with freshly treated water will have a descaling effect on the kettle.
Any scale that does form in the kettle will be soft and can be easily
brushed away without the use of descaling products.
Continue to put salt and rinse aid in your
dishwasher. During the drying process the water in the
dishwasher will evaporate, and unless salt and rinse aid are used it
will leave behind the calcium that is usually kept suspended in the
water by the device.
Water Softeners. A water softener
will often leave deposits inside a water system. If you wish to stop
using your water softener, allow the Fernox Electronic Water Conditioner
to work with your softener for at least a month before switching it off. |
